About Lantern Hunt
Lantern Hunt is a free iPhone app for a community campaign against the spotted lanternfly, an invasive insect that damages trees, vineyards and gardens across the eastern US. This winter the campaign is hunting egg masses, gray mud-like smears on bark, fences, cars and firewood that each hold 30 to 50 eggs. Scrape one, log it in the app, and it counts on the shared map. Every egg mass destroyed now is a few dozen fewer lanternflies next summer.
